I noticed this stunning Red Oak at the lumberyard and I had to pick it up without any idea what I would make.
I settled on a low console for below a TV or for other media. As much as I loved the figure in the wood, I was not too happy with the color of the wood. I had to think of something to even out the color. Dyes work, but they end up hiding the grain. So, one day, when the piece was almost complete, I took a large weed burning torch and burnt the whole piece and buffed it with oil. The grain became even more prominent, but the process was a bit terrifying!
